In Excel 2007 the Status Bar appears across the bottom of the screen under the worksheet names and horizontal scroll bar. What appears on the Status Bar is determined by which of the 22 options are selected on the Customize Status Bar Menu. That menu is displayed by right clicking over the Status Bar.

End Mode appears on the Status Bar after pressing the Endkey when cell mode is Ready. If F8 is pressed, Extend Selectionappears on the Status Bar to indicate that mode.

The next group of options display quick summaries at the right of the Status Bar, but only when a range of two or more cells containing numbers are selected.

• Average displays the average of the numbers in a range of selected cells.
• Countd isplays a count of the non-blank cells in a selected range.
• Numerical Count displays a count of the cells containing numbers in a selected range. Blank cells and cells containing text are ignored.
• Max displays the maximum, or largest, number in a range of selected cells.
• Min displays the minimum, or smallest, number in a range of selected cells.
• Sum displays the sum, or total, of the numbers in a range of selected cells.

Zoom and Zoom Slider are also both selected by default.
